Payal, André, and Collete!

Posted by sarahm@cherryrepublic.com on May 16th 2019

During their first visit, André left thinking, "Who knew there were so many great ways to eat cherries?!" Payal and André take great pride in the fact that since their discovery of Cherry Republic of Ann Arbor, they have sampled nearly every one of our products. They’ve even made the trek to Cherry Republic of Traverse City to check out our northern neighbors! As much as they love our store, it’s Colette, their French bulldog, who is our biggest fan. "We love that you let Collete come in here ...

Lorenzo and Madeline!

Posted by sarahm@cherryrepublic.com on Apr 3rd 2019

Meet Lorenzo and Madeline. Lorenzo is two and a half and Madeline is three. They have known each other since they were born and consider each other to be best friends. They are not related, although you’d think they were brother and sister. Their favorite part about Cherry Republic of Traverse City is Boomer’s Tree House, of course! They enjoy climbing on it and playing together. However, their “favoritest” part of all is the ball pit. Lorenzo and Madeline like to pretend that it’s the ocean ...

Introducing Citizens of the Republic

Posted by sarahm@cherryrepublic.com on Mar 27th 2019

Have you heard of the famous ‘Humans of New York’ blog created by Brandon Stanton? He interviewed and photographed individuals in New York City, including quotes and short stories from their lives alongside candid portraits. Stanton’s blog inspired us and got us thinking about how Cherry Republic could learn more about our Citizens. Well, one of our core values at Cherry Republic is Liberty, or wholeheartedness and passion, which means we work from the heart to touch hearts. Anot ...

Detroit Tigers In The Republic

Posted by andrewm on Jan 26th 2018

A line of eager Detroit Tigers fans snaked through our Traverse City store and down Front Street yesterday afternoon, hoping for the chance to snap a selfie with soon-to-be Hall of Famer Alan Trammell and pitchers Shane Greene and Daniel Stumpf as the Detroit Tigers Winter Caravan rolled into Northern Michigan. The three players happily served up free samples of cherry pie, ice cream and Sour Cherry Patches for about 30 minutes, while chatting with fans and posing for photos. The spirited event ...

Top 10 Northern Michigan Spring Activities

Posted by andrewm on Apr 6th 2017

To us locals, spring in northern Michigan is all about the conflict between the sun and the north wind. This age old battle plays out on the dunes and orchards and woods and water. And then every year, to us warm-blooded human's delight, the sun wins! Spring is especially nice. The crowds are thin and and even the best restaurants have a table available. The sun returns to warm the earth, giving way to leafing trees, vibrant wild flowers, and lively wildlife; ideal conditions for a long hike ...

Ice Cream

Posted by bob on Jun 23rd 2016

The trick to good homemade ice cream is lots of time consuming layering of fun ingredients!  This photo catches Matt our ice cream maker adding caramel sauce.  If you look closely, there are chocolate covered waffle chips in the bucket in the foreground that go in next and almonds in the bowl above him.  Hey, I think he’s making Rain Orchard Crunch! We have 15 years of recipes that have slowly been improved with meticulous notes. Introducing our "Frozen" cream makers. That’s Elsa o ...

We are excited to share with you all we have been working on this spring. We hope you enjoy the photos below. Traverse City Cherry Republic's Grand Remodeling

Posted by bob on Apr 9th 2015

Our chef, Tony Finnestad, fields questions from a reporter in the lead-up to our Traverse City store's reopening. It's been boarded up for weeks and has been the scene of noisy, dusty construction work with a near-constant stream of contractors coming and going. But the day is finally here! The work is almost finished! Our fabulous, shiny, new Traverse City Embassy is ready to reopen its doors! We'll still be making some modifications to the store in the coming weeks, and we'll be having ...
