The Great Bay to Bay Trail-Breaking

Just one of many amazing Sleeping Bear Dune National Lakeshore views that we will enjoy during the hike. A new hiking trail is coming to the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. It's called the Bay to Bay Trail, and it will run the length of the park, from Platte Bay at the south end to Good Harbor Bay at the north end. Hiking back from North Manitou Island towards the Crib with Pyramid Point in the distance. On Thursday, March 6th, 2014, we attempted something that hasn't been done for 40 years: to hike the treacherous ice across the Manitou Passage to the islands 8 miles out.
