Bloggers mix business with pleasure at Cherry Republic

Posted by andrewm on Aug 21st 2015

Cherry-Republic-Store-Front Millions of people visit northern Michigan on vacation and business; everyone has a great story to tell friends, family and co-workers. Northern Michigan really tells its’ own tale to each person uniquely. Recently we had a group of food bloggers visit Traverse City for a business retreat coined “Sharing By The Shore” mixing business with pleasure. These bloggers could not have selected a better backdrop than the Traverse City area or a Cherry Republic store. Their purpose was to connect, share ideas and learn from each other much like many people do at conventions or trade shows. The good part about this “foodie” retreat is it brought awareness to the Traverse City region and potentially more business to the area. All this business is great for the Cherry Republic stores, highlights our great cafes and cherry products. The bad part is that Traverse City is becoming less of a secret to the nation as more people share their northern Michigan stories. These food bloggers have sites where they post articles about their experiences; the key to all bloggers success is to have great content and develop loyal readership. Is there any better topic than cherries or Cherry Republic…we think not. Thank you to all the bloggers that took time out of their trip to visit our store and cafe; we hope you come back and visit again. Below are a few photos and quotes the bloggers had about Cherry Republic’s Café and cherry products. Downtown Traverse City is lined with unique shops, eateries, theaters, book stores and more. For edible souvenirs or a quick lunch, be sure to visit Cherry Republic’s newly renovated and expanded location on Front Street. Not only is it home to my favorite dark chocolate covered cherries but their cafe offers a full menu of tasty treats. – The Lemon Bowl Downtown Traverse City is lined with unique shops, eateries, theaters, book stores and more. We also got to sample a pizza with cherry and fig jam, bacon and blue cheese. It. Was. Amazing. In fact, everything that we tried from their restaurant was pretty great. - Taste and Tell I feel in love with the cherry salsa (the jar I brought home was gone in less than 24 hours after I got home!) and the cherry horseradish sauce. Seriously it was amazing! There was cherry wine, cherry pizza, cherry candies, cherry tortilla chips, cherry EVERYTHING. The food was incredible – from their Bacon & Blue Fig Jam Pie (pictured below, pizza crust topped with blue cheese sauce, provolone & mozzarella, bacon and dollops of Cherry Fig Jam – omg) to their Cuban Sandwich with house made pickles and Cherry Mustard…the food was absolutely delicious. This place had a fun vibe and was very kid friendly. I went home with a couple of their top sellers – cherry sours (candy), cherry salsa, a cherry horseradish sauce as well as some other treats. By the time I’m writing this post the cherry salsa, cherry sours, sweet and spicy cherry trail mix and dark chocolate covered cherries are officially gone. I’m glad my family got to enjoy a taste of Cherry Republic with me. - Aggies Kitchen Guys, if you have the opportunity to visit this store, plan to eat here! Ya’ll, let me tell you, they have mastered the cherry! The store itself is so fun. They have little tasting areas all over so you can try any and everything, from Cherry Horseradish (my favorite), to Cherry Salsa, Cherry Fig Jam, Spicy Cherry BBQ Sauce, or Chocolate Covered Dried Cherries. They even had a cherry wine tasting bar and restaurant! The head chef of the restaurant came out to give us a tour and then sat us down to try a few of the menu items! If you ever go, get the Bacon & Blue Fig Jam Pie! It is to die for! The pizza dough is cooked in a wood fire grill then topped with a blue cheese cream sauce, mozzarella, bacon, fresh basil, and a cherry fig jam! The sweet salty combination is addicting! I actually bought the cherry fig jam to bring home just so I can make that pizza! - Joyful Healthy Eats Later that day we headed to downtown Traverse City and visited a jewel of a place called “Cherry Republic.” You can guess by the name that they are all about cherries! Our first stop was the totally awesome Cherry Republic where they had a thousand different cherry filled products. Because I’m irrational I wanted 1 of everything but reigned it in and instead just picked up a big bag of sour cherry candies for the hubs. They are legit. Get a bag. Trust me. - Nutmeg Nanny Before dinner we hit up downtown Traverse City and I have to admit I’m totally smitten with upstate Michigan. I can say I’m officially a loyal customer (always was a fan but now it’s completely solidified). I could drink their cherry salsa and I’ll never stop thinking about the pizza they served us. - Rachel Cooks Chef Tony showed us around the store. Whether you like your cherries baked into a fresh cherry chocolate chunk cookie, stirred into an addictive snack mix, jarred into salsa (my favorite) or barbecue sauce, or fizzing in your soda pop, Cherry Republic has a product to match. The store is absolutely charming. Try not to ruin your appetite on chocolate covered cherries when you stop in, because the café also serves up some amazing fare. We were fortunate to be hosted by Chef Tony, who gave us a store tour and fed us a spread that included this pizza (pictured above) and some of the best black bean cakes I’ve ever tried. - Well Plated Northern Michigan is known for its cherries, and I cannot imagine a better way to experience them than at Cherry Republic.
