Last week, after picking all the fresh cherries from our tree in the garden, one of our staff members absentmindedly left the metal ladder standing under the tree. Several times I walked through the garden and noticed it, but didn't take it down. I liked how it looked. It made the garden seem like a working farm. It made our prized cherry tree stand out. After several days, though, I took the shiny ladder down with the intention of replacing it with an old fashioned picking ladder. Ironically, a day later, Ashley Shane from Carmel, Indiana brought us that exact ladder in red that she had no use for anymore! It now sits as a permanent fixture in our garden. Thanks Ashley for your generosity and fabulous intuition.

Let them eat pie!
We recently hosted a pie eating contest on the grounds here in Glen Arbor. We declared a few winners, and there was a lot of pie on a lot of faces (no hands allowed!). Take a peek at the contest here. Join us this Tuesday for burger night in the Cafe. Next week's big event is the 2008 Cherry Republic Talent Show! It's Monday, July 28th at 7:30, across the street at the Lake Street Studios main stage. Hope to see you there!
Festivals and Events coming up...
The Traverse City Film Festival starts July 29 and runs through August 3rd. This year's big premiere is Madonna's Film, "I Am Because We Are." The 2008 Sleeping Bear Dunegrass and Blues Festival (in Empire) will start July 31st and run through August 3rd. This year's festival features over 50 bands and promises to be one of the best yet.
